My first pony ( of my very own ) was Blaze. He was a paint Welsh Mountain and his passion was jumping, he loooovvvveeeeddddd to jump and would jump anything. He was rather well known in the local horsey cirlcles due to his jumping antics. If he was jumping haybales he used to spread his front legs while jumping and take a mouthful of hay !!!! He was such a dude and such a clever wee pony. Because I am so little I never had to replace him due to outgrowing him. I had so many years of pleasure on that wee pony. I learned to swim on/with him, he was my bestest friend in the whole world, back then...

my first pony was a new forest 13 hands high, her name was Mandine. She was a great pony i loved her dearly, she was afantastic gymkana/games pony and loved to jump too.She had her own character like most things, when she wanted to win she won every time no matter what i did when she had 1 on her she would be in first place all the way round the course untill she got to the finish line where she would full rear and walk over on her back legs never being first. On show days she must have known because if she wasnt in her stable the night before it took us,my sister, mum and me,hours to catch her.My sisters pony was never a problem to catch just liked to buck sometimes. We used to hack for miles my pony was bombproof on the road and it didnt matter what the weather. She was my best friend so before school and after school everyday we went to see the ponies. We rode when we could,my mum actually gave her to me for my birthday she rapped up some dry horse poo,i thought it was a pair of schols but i didnt mind when my mum told me.

my first pony is the one i have now!! im only 15 and we only started owning horses 2 1/2 years ago. the first pony i 'shared' was called smugglar, i learnt to ride on him and me and my sisters would go down once or twice a week for months. we soon started taking prober lessons at a riding school, but i will never forget sumg. he is now actually owned by my instructor for her son down my yard so i see him all the time and often help out with him. i havent ridden him again as hes only 11h and i think i would need roller skates!!!

I still have my first pony!! We set out looking for a 15hh 6-8yr old Welsh Cob gelding and came back with a 14hh, 14yr old pregnant Welsh Cob mare! It really was love at first sight though... the first thing I saw of Wendy was her ears poking over the top of the stable partition. She's been an amazing first pony. Definately taught me how to stick on! We kept her filly foal, Gwenno, too. Wends is 23yrs old this year and is still ridden regularly by my housemate.

My first pony was called Bonnie, as is my current horse! She was 14hh , tri-colour very heavy-weight irish cob. we had opposite personalities which constantly clashed, but i wouldn't have changed her for the world. she taught me how to build confidence in everything we did as she was 100% genuine, although more than a little lazy. Her new owner still sends me xmas photos of her, although i couldn't ever go and see her, i think it would be too upsetting. I only sold her due to university, but i couldn't have asked for a better or nicer new mummy for her.

My own first pony is the one I have now, I bought him 18months ago, I did loan a few prior to this. The first one was Morven, a speedy little 13hh grey she was a fell cross goodness knows. She threw me off left rigth and centre but I loved her very much, she definately taught me how to ride. I owe alot to that little pony, unfortunately I wasn't allowed to loan her anymore as her owner was selling her and I wasn't in the position to buy her:( Then I had Mydas a 14hh bay connemara cross, Emily a 17.3hh Clydesdale and then Woodie a 13.1hh welsh sec C cross. And then I bought my Highland who beats them all hands down, although I probably wouldn't have bought him if I didn't have Morven experience! So he's the most special by far because he's not going anywhere, although they were all very special in their owns ways. And they all helped me learn to ride properly not the riding school way! Morven once threw me off 7 times in half an hour but I kept getting back on, just before she was sold I went 2 months with no falls and she was a complete star we were finally getting somewhere, I still wonder what she is upto now if she's still going.
