If you do not ride at advanced, judge or spectate at this level do you have the right to critise what you may not fully understand ie, there IS a difference between banned rollkur and LDR which is frequently but incorrectly posted as being the same thing on this site.

People should be free to express an opinion even if they are not part of the elite. I love show jumping and disagree with rapping etc but just because I'm not a top class show jumper does that mean I shouldn't be able to say what I think? Nothing is perfect but it doesn't put me off jumping the way I want to jump. And the same is true for dressage I'm sure.

Yes there are things which shouldnt be done like rollkur as this is proven to be too strenuous for the horse and creates injuries but at the end of the day the majority of people don't do this. Every competition I go to there are still loads of entries (even in the lower classes) because people enjoy it. The same goes for watching international GP. The stands are always full. Both of these things tell me that its not a dead sport ;)

You can find all kinds of bad and sad things in every aspect of "the love of horses"( labeled training). Good Dressage is Good, just as good trainers in other horse training is good too. Look at Horse racing??? OMG. that is another entire scary topic. Dressage is not dead. I just think trainers should look at smaller type horses for women. Big horses are hard to handle for amatuers. A lower level rider does not need a warrior size horse and a full blooded german warrior warmblood that costs 100,000.00 . You need the uphill, but you don't need the expense to keep regular horse loving people from getting into dressage. I have had the dutch warmblood 17 '"1 hand horse that trainers were leary of. I have had a quarter horse that i did western reining, and that lead me to a 16 hand NA oldenburg registered half hanoverian half american thoroughbred . He is perfect. I am having the time of my life!!! Dressage is not easy!!
