When we bought our hunter we were told that he was cold backed and we should lunge him before riding him. I did that the first few times I rode him and then didn't bother after that and never had a problem with him. I do however take quite a while to saddle a horse up and always do the girth up gradually and often lead them up and down the yard before I get on. Anyway less about me (yawn!) here's a video of Phoebe Buckley and her event horse Gordon who is very nervous about having his saddle put on after a very bad experience in the past. In it she demonstrates how she deals with this sensitive horse and reveals what a good horsewoman she is :D

Perfect handling, she is both confidence giving and kind to the horse.

It's so nice to see someone have so much respect and understanding for their horses. Really like her attitude
