I ride on country roads at night as i find on busy roads so drivers tend to get angry as they think riders shouldnt be out after dark, and cant sometime be very unfriendly. Me and my friend both wear lots of reflective wear, we have waterproof exercise rugs which cover horse and rider, we were reflective tabbards, both wear reflective boots, my friend uses a reflective necklace on her pony and i have bands which go over my horses nose band and reins. These were all bought a cheap prices, its easy to stay safe and enjoy riding in the dark. hope this helps.

That's during daytime though. I would imagine that the more reflective bits you have visible the better for night time whatever the colour - anything hi-vis rather than black - because they will light up in headlights/streetlights.

They have much better night vision than us. When doind road work, I wear a hi vis vest with flashing led's and my mare has a hi vis tail wrap with flasing led's and a hi vis chest strap. All were bought from Equine Pharmacy online. http://www.erinsartjournal.com/
